Semisimple ring spectra

چکیده
We define global dimension and weak dimension for the structured ring spectra that arise in algebraic topology. We provide a partial classification of ring spectra of global dimension zero, the semisimple ring spectra of the title. These ring spectra are closely related to classical rings whose projective modules admit the structure of a triangulated category. Applications to two analogues of the generating hypothesis in algebraic topology are given.

On Semi-artinian Weakly Co-semisimple Modules
We show that every semi-artinian module which is contained in a direct sum of finitely presented modules in $si[M]$, is weakly co-semisimple if and only if it is regular in $si[M]$. As a consequence, we observe that every semi-artinian ring is regular in the sense of von Neumann if and only if its simple modules are $FP$-injective.
متن کاملSTRONGLY DUO AND CO-MULTIPLICATION MODULES
Let R be a commutative ring. An R-module M is called co-multiplication provided that foreach submodule N of M there exists an ideal I of R such that N = (0 : I). In this paper weshow that co-multiplication modules are a generalization of strongly duo modules. Uniserialmodules of finite length and hence valuation Artinian rings are some distinguished classes ofco-multiplication rings. In additio...
متن کاملMath 101b: Algebra Ii Part C: Semisimplicity
We have one week to talk about semisimple rings and semisimple modules (Chapter XVII). A semisimple R-module is a finite direct sum of simple modules M = S1 ⊕ · · · ⊕ Sn and a semisimple ring is a ring R for which all f.g. modules are semisimple. The main reasons that I am choosing this particular topic in noncommutative algebra is for the study of representations of finite groups which we will...
متن کامل9 Prime Spectra of Quantized Coordinate Rings
This paper is partly a report on current knowledge concerning the structure of (generic) quantized coordinate rings and their prime spectra, and partly propaganda in support of the conjecture that since these algebras share many common properties, there must be a common basis on which to treat them. The first part of the paper is expository. We survey a number of classes of quantized coordinate...
متن کاملNoncommutative Images of Commutative Spectra
We initiate a unified, axiomatic study of noncommutative algebras R whose prime spectra are, in a natural way, finite unions of commutative noetherian spectra. Our results illustrate how these commutative spectra can be functorially “sewn together” to form SpecR. In particular, we construct a bimodule-determined functor ModZ → ModR, for a suitable commutative noetherian ring Z, from which there...
